So you don’t see 4000$ rust heap nas in your area? I’ve talk to a few oppos about this, the Miata isn’t that cheap anymore, most of them are junk with quite a price tag.

Being popular shouldn't artificially raise the price of a car that is mostly found is terrible condition or hooned to near death.

Not what I’m saying. NA Miatas have been going up in value for the last few years now, to the point where nice l ow-mileage ones are 5 figure cars, and you’re unlikely to find a well-sorted out example for $3000 anymore.

But “overpriced due to popularity” is a strange grouping of words. It should be “priced due to popularity”. It’s a popular enthusiast car loved by many and as such is raising in value, just like every other popular enthusiast car has since forever. It’s worth what people will pay, and that number is trending upward after bottoming out the depreciation curve a few years ago. It will likely keep going up.

The one other factor that people don’t always recognize is the hardtop economy. When you can get an almost guaranteed $1500 nowadays just for a well-maintained h ardtop—a fairly common factory option—that’s going to skew prices quite a bit.

NB’s are an incredible value right now though, and a much better track car for 99% of people.

...you don’t really have a firm grasp of how supply and demand works, do you?

Oh and answering your second part, “mostly found in terrible condition or hooned to near death” is blatantly untrue. Look 'em up in any major city and you'll find tons of great condition NA's along with the beaters. I should know, I check nationwide every week for a mint Sunburst yellow NA!

Good point there....

But....

Its more of my opinion on it’s value as if other people believe their trash is worth 4k that’s fine, im just making the point that the trash is not worth 4k.

But yeah, your right it’s supply and demand.

Ill adm it it’s a strange grouping of words, I didn’t make the mem e, just agree with it.

Its at the point now where I don't believe the car is anywhere near a good value as it used to be,I'm at the point where buying an NA Miata is mostly a bad value compared to cars we see everyday falling lower and lower

Like what? Genuinely curious.

Miata pros are that it’s incredibly cheap to maintain, the 1.8 engines will run forever even if you’re driving them hard , cheap to upgrade for those getting into racing, super simple to work on, fantastic transmission, rwd, super lightweight .

I’m trying to think of good competitors in the $3500-6000 range that gets you a nice NA Miata and I’m coming up short. Civic Si’s and other Hondas all have the same if not worse issue of being beat-to-shit, not to mention the car-jacking issue . GT86/BRZ/Abarth aren’t in that price range yet unfortunately . Older Gti? Reliability woes. 90's/early 2000's domestic muscle? Pricey consumables, more of a straight-line segment unless you’re buying a Terminator or another top-teir which brings the price waaaaay past NA Miatas. The old Nissans are impossible to find nowadays and stupid expensive when a non-drifted one does show up. E46 and E39 are solid values but way more expensive to run, not simple, not light, and just not driver-focused in the same way..... I'm racking my brain here. Seems like the best reason not to pay for an NA is because you can get an 02-03 NB for less money that's a better performer in every way.

That seems entirely unfair. We’re talking about a price bracket that includes similarly abused V6 New Edge Mustangs, 944's, and base model E46's.

You can still find plenty of decent deals on an N A... if you’re out looking for a fully-loaded one with low miles , then you’re kind of missing the point of buying a basic, 25-year old RWD convertible.

I mean personally I’m not looking for one, but in my area Miata deals like have never existed.

Taljing to some other oppos I guess it just depends on area and availability and all that

I'm still trying to figure out a fair price for my 94 should I decide to sell it, but nobody buys a convertible in PA in January anyway.

OK. I’ve been resisting stopping to talk with the owner, and if you were interested that could have been enough reason. But I’ll be easily able to resist now. If I’m going to do something unnecessary, it will more likely be a C5 Z06, but I’ve become very, very slightly more open to the idea of an unnecessary Miata.

It looks to be in good shape, aside from fading color on the sill cladding. Top look ed good. No chi pping on the air dam.   I did a google search on the phone number, but didn’t find an ad.
